Spring migrants

Each year, migratory birds including swifts, house martins and cuckoos fly hundreds, often thousands, of miles from warmer climates to the UK to breed. They're fast, powerful and extremely well-travelled, but sadly their numbers have been plummeting.

In just 20 years, more than half have vanished. Here we've highlighted products to support and celebrate swifts and other migratory birds. How to help swifts ›

Can you help provide somewhere safe for swifts?

Swifts are surprisingly fussy about their homes. We've worked with Swift experts to develop our RSPB Swift nest box to exacting requirements.

Wildlife gardening could help too as swifts mainly eat insects, but there are many ways to help: Learn more about this much-loved species with a book, help report hotspots with the Swift Mapper app, and celebrate them with a Swift-inspired range from RSPB shop.
